Cape Town Accommodation

| January 6th, 2012

Unless you tie on a blindfold and lock yourself in your hotel room, there is absolutely no way you can get bored in Cape Town. There are so many things to do. If you’re into shopping, the V&A Waterfront is just one of many shopoholic’s dream venues but it stands out as it has so much more – boat trips, the embarkation point for the Robben Island ferry, the Two Oceans Aquarium, loads of interesting historical buildings and some of the city’s best hotels with possibly the best views in the world. Cape town offers a whole range of exciting adventure activities, great birding, awesome whale watching, historical buildings, and dozens of museums outlining the city’s fascinating history and its many cultures. Cape Town accommodation is plentiful and there’s something to suit every budget but it is highly advisable to book ahead, especially over the Christmas season (December to mid-February) and during the Argus Cycle Tour (usually mid-March).

The Beauty of Hermanus

| December 14th, 2011

Villa blu guest house offers Hermanus accommodation at its finest, enjoy supreme relaxation and comfort at this picturesque guest house b & b, situated in beautiful Hermanus, the whale watching capital of the world.

Tino and Riana welcome you to Villa Blu Bed & Breakfast, relaxed Hermanus accommodation, they will ensure you receive the warmest possible welcome at their charming Hermanus guest house.

The Roundhouse Guest house is unique in shape and design. The ground floor offers 3 large, luxury suites. Two of these suites, the Cetecea and Astacus, are semi circular whilst the other suite, Pinnepedia, is square in shape. The suites are entered from a gangway that connects to the rooms as well as the staircase to the top floors. The staircase is a major feature of The Roundhouse. The staircase is right in the middle of the house and is centred on a tree that was cut from a farm in the local area. The tree had to be cut in three places to position it in the centre of the house. Another feature is our stone cladded walls. Some of our suites feature coral stone cladding whilst others feature stone carved artwork in the lounge areas. The 1st floor consists of our Carcharias suite, kitchen and office. The top floor is where guests enjoy breakfast, a couple of drinks and pure relaxation. The enite top floor is one big room. We call this room the bar area.  The bar has a huge projector screen where you are welcome to watch sports, movies and more. Surround sound makes your viewing even more pleasurable. The outside deck is where you will find our 8 seater Jacuzzi.  Relax with a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set over the ocean. The Roundhouse.

Table Mountain

| December 7th, 2011

Table Mountain is the centrepiece of the Table Mountain National Park. Covering only 17,000 ha, this small area supports some 2,285 plant species of which at least 90 are found only on the Peninsula, and is part of the Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site.
The most usual (and easiest) way of visiting Table Mountain is to ride up in the Cable Car, which operates every day, except in bad weather conditions. But it’s a great walk, either up, down or both ways. Platteklip Gorge, just east of the Cable Station, is a good one, as you can walk one way and take the cable car the other. Skeleton Gorge and Nursery Ravine, both of which start in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, are also easy walks.

If you have a good map, and you really do know what you’re doing in the wilds, it’s a good hike from the cable car to Kirstenbosch or vice versa. It’s really great to do this on a Sunday in summer, when you can walk down into Kirstenbosch and enjoy the open air sunset concert. Organise someone to drive the car round and bring a picnic.
